WarwickTECH Team

WarwickTECH is a student-led angel fund building Warwick University’s tech hub. Over the past 6 years, we’ve run internationally recognised events including WarwickHACK with support from Major League Hacking, and Tech Night LDN in collaboration with she++. We recently changed our operating model to start investing in startups founded by alumni, staff, faculty, and students from Warwick University.

Available roles

WarwickTECH will help you to develop the skills and expertise that you’re most passionate about, excel at, and will help you find the role when you graduate where you can thrive. We’re looking for students (preferably freshers, but second-years are also welcome to apply) to join our Coding and Logistics teams.

Coding Associate

This may be for you if you’re interested in founding your own tech start-up or are considering a career in Software Engineering, DevOps, Product Development or something similar. The role will include:

  • Responsible for LHD (our Local Hack Day events)
  • Supporting WarwickHACK
  • Helping to build our online hacker community

You don’t necessarily have to be studying a technical course or be the most experienced programmer — we’re open to anyone who’s passionate about tech and coding who wants to learn more!

Logistics Associate

You’re likely to be someone who is looking to start life out in growth, marketing, event management, or partnerships when you graduate — likely at an early-stage startup. Your role may have several duties:

  • Responsible for our social media and marketing
  • Leading operations and logistics for all our student-led initiatives
  • Forming partnerships with companies and societies

Volunteers

If you don’t want to join the main team but are still passionate about tech and interested in getting involved, we’re also looking for volunteers to help ensure our events (such as WarwickHACK) run smoothly, so please get in touch! Roles may include:

  • Supporting Logistics team with marketing and social media
  • Assisting with opening and closing ceremony presentations
  • Organising activities and mini-games
  • Responsible for food, restocking supplies etc.
  • Greeting, directing and looking after guests

This type of role may be for you if you have lots of other commitments and want a more flexible role, you can’t join the team permanently (e.g. if you’re graduating or taking a year out soon), or you simply want to find out more and get to know us before joining.

You can apply to be a volunteer for WarwickHACK here — we’ll be in touch soon if you’re selected!

How we work:

WarwickTECH is an organisation that runs like a high-growth startup — everyone works on everything at some stage and we’re not afraid to make big changes. Expect to work on two projects at any given time, a process (like marketing, web design, or partnerships) and an event (like one of our Local Hack Days or a larger event such as WarwickHACK!). We’re always improving how we operate, and consistently provide time for every member of the team to express their views during their one-to-ones and during team-wide socials.

Perks and compensation:

As a registered charity and independent organisation (not an SU society), we have a lot of flexibility in how we can support you. We’re already investing in startups and can bring you in on the sourcing and due diligence process should you wish — building an investment track record usually takes decades!

Although we work on a purely voluntary basis, we cover all the expenses necessary to thrive as part of the team (including all travel and food costs for meetings and conferences).

To apply:

To find out more, send us an email, attaching your CV and LinkedIn profile, and a note telling us how you’d add value to the WarwickTECH community and what area of technology you’re interested in (no more than 150 words). Looking forward to speaking to you! We recruit on a rolling basis so you can apply at any time! If you have any questions, please get in touch via email or LinkedIn.
